In 2021, the Communauté Intercommunale Réunion Est (CIREST) entrusted Stereau with the rehabilitation of the Bras des Calumets drinking water treatment plant, with a capacity of 100 m³/h, located in the commune of Plaine des Palmistes on Reunion Island. This initiative was aimed at resolving turbidity and color (COD) problems, as well as water quality degradation during rainy periods.

As part of the rehabilitation of this plant, Sodimate supplied two sets of equipment.

The first set of equipment is introduced to treat the plant’s sludge: it includes the installation of a screw to recover the sludge leaving the centrifuge, and an MBV 150 mixer to homogenize the sludge with lime. This screw is designed to transport limed sludge. A final screw distributes the sludge into a tailgate.

The lime is then stored in big bags. To accommodate the lime, we have set up an emptying station for these big bags.

This is equipped with a dosing screw and an injection screw that feed lime directly into our mixer, enabling precise and efficient dosing for mixing with sludge.

Our MBV 150 mixer is designed to deliver unrivalled performance in mixing sludge and lime. Equipped with two rotors fitted with Hardox blades, which are both secant and removable, it makes maintenance easier. Unlike other models on the market, our mixer is totally accessible for thorough cleaning, thanks to removable covers. The real strength of our mixer lies in its ability to operate efficiently with relatively low engine power, thus optimizing energy efficiency.

The second station is dedicated to activated carbon storage and dosing, feeding a hydro-ejector designed to transport activated carbon efficiently without the need for a slurry, thus reducing maintenance costs.

This installation is designed to eliminate any traces of pesticides, TOC or micropollutants in drinking water.
